The inspiration behind this collection was largely the architectural beauty of the Sydney Opera House, the water that embodies it and the landscape upon where it sits under the sheer magnitude of its presence. The hand-etched designs with the bold and bright colour in the paint used in this series of Jewellery were inspired by the visual feast of the Vivid Light Festival projections on the Sydney Opera House along with a strong influence from Australian artist Ken Done and Fashion Designer Jenny Kee.
The stylised shapes, bright colours and design work in my jewellery form a relationship between 1980- 1990’s Fashion and Art in Australia, The Sydney Opera House, the land and the water that surrounds it.
This is a one-off piece that was handcrafted in my studio in Perth, Western Australia with recycled perspex from manufacturers discarded off-cuts.
Through my sustainable practise I aim to reduce the amount of plastic that enters landfill by creating beautiful pieces like this, that can adorn the body and bring enjoyment to wear and explore the fun of wearable Art Jewellery.
The sterling silver magnetic clasp creates an easy way to wear this
neckpiece.
This one-off piece comes packaged thoughtfully in a printed box.
